Saved in the Sky

As a child of a Protestant father and a Catholic mother, who both had left their state churches, I got saved at age 10 in a free group. After I prayed to receive the Lord, I was told that Jesus lives in my heart and God speaks through my conscience. These two facts, as a taste in my being, kept me from getting involved in religious practices. I had a deep desire to know God. This desire never left me even when I went through my questioning teenage years and following failures.

With my being caught up in family ties, culture and traditions, the Lord sovereignly “shipped” me from Europe to California and “dropped” me in the desert.

Here I experienced more trials, but on one of my yearly trips to my parents I met some brothers from the church in Anaheim on the airplane. A couple of that group spent time with me and showed me in the Bible that the Lord is the Spirit (2 Cor. 3:17). Calling on His name (Acts 2:21; 1 Cor. 1:2), they said, is as normal as calling on the telephone. The Lord’s name is a powerful name.

This was the beginning of an intrinsic and intimate walk with the Lord. This was 20 years ago.
